The Beauty in the Brown and Gray

Well being stuck in the house sure is making me get things done. Normally I'm super busy with work and running errands that I don't have much time for anything else. But with being in quarantine now for three weeks has given me time to catch up. I had some paperwork to catch up on and projects to finish. Now it's time to slow down a bit.

While a lot of bloggers are talking about making masks and are posting patterns, I really don't want to post about that. Don't get me wrong, it's great and I'm making some too but you don't need me to detail it for you like that. You can search Pinterest for mask patterns and you will get plenty of links there. We really don't need one more. We are all going through this together. I'd like to focus on some positive  things in my posts. Now that I have some downtime I can actually get in the car and explore more of Rochester (just myself and the dog). I want to find the beauty in the brown and gray.

Unfortunately here in the Northeast it's still gray out. Still chilly, rainy, windy or all three. The trees haven't bloomed or gotten their leaves yet and the landscape is mostly shades of brown. I went out photographing yesterday and saw some signs of Spring here and there but not too much. April is a weird month. You can get snow, freezing rain and warm weather all in one week. It happened the last four days. Yesterday the sun was out and the clouds were puffy and pretty, but the breeze was super cold. When I took the dog out in the morning I noticed some Daffodils had grown in the wooded area between our place and a main road. That is always the first sign of Spring to me. I found some beauty in the brown and gray.

I went down to Canandaigua Lake to see if I could photograph some cool scenes but it was still kind of ugly. But, as I said before, I want to find the positive in things. Although, it was cold and there weren't that many signs of Spring, the lake water was blue and all the ice in it and around it had melted.

Well, that was my day out at Canandaigua Lake. If you would like more info on Canandaigua lake click HERE. Hope you enjoy the photographs. In the midst of quarantine where we can't travel to beautiful places, we can find beauty in our own back yards. Sometimes we go visually numb to our surroundings as we go through our day to day activities. Take this time to slow down and experience what is right in front of you.

Be safe out there and stay healthy.
