Custard Ice Cream!

Image
Custard ice cream. This smooth, creamy, delectable cold sweetness is something everyone must try. I've had ice cream many times before, but not like this. It's velvety, its creamy, it's delicious. My "bestie" (best friend) took me to Abbott's not too long ago. She said "you haven't had ice cream until you've had Abbott's custard ice cream". I had no idea. They make only two flavors really, chocolate and vanilla. Although you can get either with almonds. Sometimes they have a special one like black cherry (which is black cherries added to the vanilla ice cream) I found this pleasingly simple. That's not to say that they don't have a variety. They have shakes, sundaes, ice cream sandwiches, etc... If you have the chance to try this cold, creamy little treat, do it! I got vanilla and had the guy put some peanut butter sauce on it. They normally don't put that on but he was nice enough to do it for me.

"You're Forty..." Rant #1

Image
"You're forty and you're not getting any younger, you know?" said a friend of mine the other day as we discussed me being single. "Yes I'm well aware of my age, it's MINE" I replied. Did she possibly think I lost track of it? They say it like maybe we're not aware of the fact that we've aged while in a relationship. As if love stopped time in our brain and caused arrested development. I get it! I'm not twenty anymore and I'm not in denial about it. There seems to be some weird stigma of how we should act, look or be at certain age groups...especially 30's, 40's, and 50's. Seriously? Why and who made up that rule? I"m guessing some depressed, angry person who didn't age well because of his or her bad DNA! I don't look 41 nor do I feel like it, so if people think I'm in my thirties should I be acting and dressing like a thirty-something? And what would that even be anyway? I say screw that!!!! Do wh...

The beauty that chaos leaves behind

Image
The beauty that chaos leaves behind? What ever could be beautiful or good about chaos? It's not about being an optimist necessarily, its about looking at things a little closer and differently. Recently, we had a snow storm that dumped so much snow in the north east. Luckily we didn't get the worst part here, but some states were buried. We got a good 10" here and it was hard to drive in (especially for a SoCal girl), but as I drove to work on Saturday morning I saw one of the most beautiful snow covered landscapes I had ever seen in person. Of course I've seen pictures and paintings, but to see it while I drove through it brought to mind that whole cloud and silver lining phrase (not to sound so cliche). It was amazing! And I live in it? Yes I do. So I took some pictures on my way to work and back, then when I got home and yesterday morning I noticed the icicles and I had to take some more to share. And that was my adventure! Beautiful one I might add. Til next ti...
